Please post only scouting reports from reputable sources. We are not looking for the "I was at the game once and that dude was awesome" variety. Also, please indicate the players position and what level he is (A, AA, AAA).

Christian Friedrich (LHP) Position: Starting Pitcher Birthdate: 07/08/87 Height: 6'3" Weight: 210 lbs. Bats: Right Throws: Left cache.daylife.com/imageserve/0cFQbr0aXngst/610x.jpgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=pa3Z9L6WmeQFriedrich isn't the typical touch-and-feel lefty. His fastball sits in the low 90s and he's touched 95 mph at times. He's got above-average to plus breaking stuff, with both a slider and a curve. His changeup was a little behind, but it's improved and is now a usable pitch. – mlb.com

Tyler Matzek (LHP) Birthdate: 10/19/90 Height: 6'3" Weight: 185 lbs. Bats: Left Throws: Left www.perfectgame.org/images/profilepics/08nat137.jpgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=qzYZZy3Zc7AFastball: Matzek was 90-94 from the windup and 86-88 from the stretch, though he touched 92 and 93, adding and subtracting when he wanted to. Fastball movement: It has average life. He kept it down in the zone, moved in to right-handed hitters and had some sinking tail. Curve: He threw it between 71-78 mph. It was only good at around 76 mph and he would snap one off that was above-average on occasion. Slider: He threw a spinning cutter that averaged 82 mph. Occasionally, he'd get out in front of it and spin it at 85-86 mph with some hard bite. Changeup: He only threw a couple and felt for it a little. Control: It wasn't pinpoint, but overall it was good. He left a few balls up in the zone. He tried to throw one curve for a strike and the harder curve to chase and was above-average with that Poise: He was very business-like on the mound, focused on the task at hand. He seems to respond to the situation. Physical Description: Matzek has a natural, athletic build with strength in his legs and hips. He's lean, but showed some good weight in his core area. Medical Update: Healthy. Strengths: He has everything you'd want to see within him, including at least three average or above pitches. When he wants to, he has a really good idea of how to pitch. Weaknesses: Sometimes seems like he just does what he needs to do to get by. He may have been throwing to the gun too much in the past.

Rex Brothers (LHP) Position: Relief Pitcher Birthdate: 12/18/87 Height: 6'1" Weight: 205 lbs. Bats: Left Throws: Left lipscombsports.com/media/mugs/bb/RexBrothers.jpgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=zvOgs5dZCqwFastball: Brothers' fastball has been as high as 96, maybe even touching 97 mph. He gets swings-and-misses with it Fastball movement: He's got explosive four-seam life. Slider: This is a wipeout pitch with very good depth, late and hard. He throws it in the low-to-mid-80s with hard bite. It was a chase pitch in the past. Now he's throwing it for a called strike more. Changeup: Has one, and will show it between innings and in the bullpen, but he doesn't need it at this level. There's a chance he can develop it later. Control: Still below-average, but it's improved recently as he's showing a better understanding of how to pitch. Poise: In the past, he used to just try to throw harder to solve problems. Then, in pressure situations, he'd come out of his delivery and his command would suffer. Now, he seems more mature and has demonstrated an ability to pitch out of trouble. Physical Description: Brothers is similar to a Mike Stanton type lefty (back when he was an amateur). He's not tall, but he's muscular and has strong legs. Medical Update: Healthy. Strengths: Plus fastball from a quick arm that's a strikeout pitch; above-average breaking ball that he now throws for strikes. He seems to be maturing on the mound. Weaknesses: No changeup to speak of rigtht now. There's some effort to his delivery, but he can maintain velocity deep into starts.

Wilin Rosario Position: Catcher Birthdate: 2/23/89 Height: 5'11" Weight: 190 lbs. Bats: Right Throws: Right www.portersprospects.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/wilin-rosario.jpgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=DGH6AEEGKxQ"You see the arm strength, you see the solid body," Banister said. "He’s shown you the power out here. Obviously he’s got a ways to go with receiving. The overall game-calling and game awareness has gotten better since he started out here. He’s an A-ball kid who’s trying to find his way against some older, experienced players, but if I’m the Rockies, I’m excited about him. He shows you the skill set to be an everyday catcher." – BA Great throwing arm, and young at age 21. However I have enough concerns about the bat to prevent a higher grade…….could turn into a very good catcher but is a long way away – Sickels

Tim Wheeler Position: Outfield Birthdate: 1/11/88 Height: 6'4" Weight: 205 lbs. Bats: Left Throws: Right www.hornetsports.com/userfiles/image/baseball/wheelerdraftinside.jpgmedia.sacbee.com/smedia/2009/04/02/14/559-JVSACSTATEBB270.standalone.prod_affiliate.4.jpgWheeler is a pretty advanced college hitter whose best assets are his ability to make contact and his speed. He should be the type who can hit at or near the top of a lineup with the potential to be a plus base-stealer. He uses his speed well in center and has the skills to stay there. Without much power, he probably won't be off the charts….. – mlb.com Didn't dominate the Northwest League. On tools, would rank ahead of older prospects McKenry and Deduno, so you can move him up if you prefer that and trust that his performance will come around. - Sickels

Sam Deduno Position: Starting pitcher, likely will be moved to relief Birthdate: 7/2/83 Height: 6'3" Weight: 190 lbs. Bats: Right Throws: Right cache.daylife.com/imageserve/06Sn6Hxaalc5z/340x.jpgwww.youtube.com/watch?v=DloBsZ_i1yMHe's an older guy due to Tommy John delay, but he's got excellent stuff. Even a mild improvement in his command would make him a big surprise in '10….Stuff-wise it is all here, and he's made some improvements with his command, looking much more like a pitcher than the thrower he was a couple of years ago. 26 years old now, but someone to keep track of closely. Probably more of a reliever than a starter in the majors. – Sickels

Nolan Arenado Position: 3B (C/SS in HS) Birthdate: 4/16/91 Height: 6'2" Weight: 200 lbs. Bats: Right Throws: Right www.perfectgame.org/images/profilepics/08nat9.jpgSome video here mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/reports.jsp?content=arenadoHitting ability: Arenado has some bat ability and is very quick to the ball with the bat. Power: He's got above-average raw power. Running speed: He's duck-footed and lumbers. Base running: It's not a part of his game. Arm strength: He's got a good arm that plays as a plus behind the plate. Fielding: He plays shortstop for his high school team, but that's not where he'll be at the next level. He hasn't caught much, but he's got good hands and feet that could play well there. Range: He has some athleticism that allows him to move with agility despite a lack of speed. Physical Description: Arenado has a strong build with some size to him, like one of the Molina brothers or Yorvit Torrealba. Medical Update: Healthy. Strengths: Good hitting ability, with power, that would play at third and especially well behind the plate. A plus arm with some quick-twitch athleticism. Weaknesses: Whether he can actually catch remains in question. He sometimes inside outs the ball too often at the plate. - mlb.com Very promising young hitter, but I want to see how his power and defense develop before going higher. – Sickels
