Pitching Rep: From ESPN By Jorge Arangure Jr.
At this point, the baseball world mostly considers Chapman a thrower rather than a pitcher. During the workout, his fastballs land in the middle of the strike zone, but when he begins to unleash his breaking stuff, several coaches move away from the backstop to avoid getting hit by balls bouncing off the catcher. The curveballs that do hit their target, however, drop several inches. Like many Cuban pitchers, Chapman has a vast repertoire: two-seam fastball, cut fastball, curve, slider, splitter and two or three kinds of changeups. But unlike many Cuban pitchers who throw a lot of junk (see: Livn and Orlando Hernndez), the flamethrowing Chapman needs to master only one or two off-speed pitches to be effective in the majors. Right now scouts rate his secondary pitches as merely average, which is understandable considering he began to throw them less than five years ago.

* Born: 2/6/1987 in Little Rock, AR
* Bats/Throws: R/L
* HT: 5'11''
* WT: 165
Pitching Rep: Taken from redslegsbaseball.blogspot.com
Wood still possesses the best change-up in the system, but his fastball velocity has never returned to the consistent 93-94 mph it attained in high school and his breaking ball continues to be inconsistent. Wood is still trying to refine his curveball, which can roll and stay up coming out of his hand. That said, Wood does possess a top notch change-up, which is one of the best weapons a pitcher can possess. The change-up is a true pitcher's pitch and one that fewer pitchers actually master than one might expect. Wood features a circle-change that breaks down and away from right-handed hitters, which may make it a nice weapon for combating a heavy platoon split. His two best pitches in the past were his fastball and changeup, but that being said, he now has a number of other pitches to go with those. And the one that's helped as much as any has been his cutter," said Terry Reynolds, the Reds' director of player development. "So it's not any one thing but a combination of all of those."

Player Name: Mike Leake
Position: Starting Pitcher
Birthdate: 11/12/87
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 180 lbs.
Bats: Right
Throws: Right
Taken From:
mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/reports.jsp?content=leakeFastball: Leake threw his fastball from 88-94 mph. It sat comfortably around 91 mph.
Fastball movement: There was above-average sink and plenty of side-to-side movement, with some run to it. He changes arm angles for different looks.
Slider: It's a hard, downward slider, thrown 79-82 mph.
Curve: An average offering ... not an out pitch. He can throw it for strikes in the 73-76 mph range.
Changeup: Close to a plus pitch and he'll throw it at any point in the count.
Control: He has plus, plus command, perhaps a 70 on the scouting scale.
Poise: It's a plus, plus attribute. He has the presence to pitch in the big leagues right now. He's more of a lead-by-example guy -- soft-spoken, but confident.
Physical Description: Leake is an undersized righty, but is athletic and strong, kind of like a Tim Hudson type.
Strengths: Four pitches that are all usable and the ability to command all of them extremelly well. He's extremely durable, having thrown as many innings as just about anyone in the class over the past few seasons.

* Bats/Throws: R/R
* HT: 6'1''
* WT: 205
* College: Texas
Pit Rep: from redlegsbaseball.blogspot.com
He features a 90-91 mph fastball, which can touch 93 at times, an average slider, and an average changeup. None of the three offerings are a plus pitch, but LeCure has a good feel for pitching and commands his pitches well. He can paint both corners of the plate with his fastball and bust hitters inside despite his limited velocity. He can pound the strikezone with all three pitches, which enables him to limit the number of baserunners who reach via the free pass. LeCure understands how to pitch and gets the most out of his average stuff, but ultimately his upside is limited.

Matt Klinker
Height 6-5, Weight 220,
B/T: R/R,
DOB: 10/8/1984
Pitch Rep: Taken from redlegsbaseball.blogspot.com
Klinker features a two-seam fastball that he can effectively ride-in on the hands of right-handed hitters. This is actually a pitch that is more effective in the professional ranks, as it can break the wood bats. At the collegiate level, a pitch in on the hands can still be muscled into the outfield for a hit with the metal bats. His command of the fastball is one of his biggest strengths on the hill. He also utilizes a somewhat loopy 12-to-6 curveball. He has tightened it up and refined it as of late, which has improved its effectiveness, but it's still more of a slurve than a hard-biting off-speed pitch. He also uses a circle-changeup and has experimented with a split-fingered fastball to improve his effectiveness against left-handed hitters.

Josh Ravin
Height 6-4, Weight 220,
B/T: R/R,
DOB: 1/21/1988
Pitch Re: redlegsbaseball.blogspot.com
Ravin throws a good, heavy fastball with late life that sits around 92-94, but can touch 95+. He also works with a solid, but inconsistent curveball that has plus potential and throws a change-up. Part of his struggles come from an inability to consistently spot his curveball. If he can't get the curveball over, then he becomes overly reliant on the fastball, which makes him easier for the competition to figure out. He needs to become more consistent with his secondary offerings to keep the hitters off balance. An effective curveball with two plane break would enable him to change the eye level of the hitters.

Daniel Tuttle
Height 6-2, Weight 175,
B/T: R/R,
DOB: 8/21/1990
Pitch Rep: redlegsbaseball.blogspot.com
Tuttle features a two-seam fastball that sits in the 90-92 mph range and tops out at 94. His fastball not only has good velocity, but it also has substantial sink and late arm-side run, which would make it ideal for Great American Ballpark. As for offspeed pitches, Tuttle has used both a slider and curveball, but as of late has relied more heavily on the former. His slider sits around 82 mph and has sharp bite. His curveball is a big breaking ball that sits around 74 mph, but lacks the tight, sharp break of his slider. He is also working on a change-up, but it needs quite a bit of work to be an effective pitch.
